Our attention has been drawn to a publication from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, dated 13th March, 2023; on CBN debunking that the Apex Bank Governor - Mr. Godwin Emefiele did not participate in Politics.
For emphasis, the third paragraph of the statement which states, "We wish to reiterate that the CBN Governor does not take part in politics and therefore urge anyone with contrary information to prove the Governor wrong by providing any facts". This statement is FALSE!

Daily News Report Fact-Check revealed that "CBN Governor - Godwin Emefiele indeed took part in Politics"
Here are our verification as culled from top National Media:
• That, around April, 2022, it came to limelight, the speculations that the CBN Governor, Emefiele is looking towards contesting for the Presidency in Nigeria.
• That, the CBN Governor made his Political race so obvious as report surfaced he bought many customized Campaign vehicles, with different groups holding solidarity walk for him to contest.

• That, on April 4, 2022, a group called "Emefiele support group" held a walk for the CBN Governor, affirming that if he contest for the President of Nigeria, he will win. Ref: legit.ng
• To make it more obvious, the CBN Governor came outside publicly and said "He doesn't need to resign as CBN Governor before he can contest for the President". Ref: Legit.ng, May 9, 2022.
• That the CBN Governor, whom the Bank is saying 'does not take part in politics' had, on May 5, filed a request in court, seeking the Court to declare him eligible to contest the 2023 Presidential Election, before he later withdrew the case following a public outcry. • That even if the CBN Governor later withdrew his intention to contest, the governor is still a member of a political Party - All Progressives Congress, because he didn't withdrawl his membership and didn't face any legal action of his act till today. Ref: Daily News Report

Following all the aforementioned facts, Daily News Report affirmed that the CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele has indeed participated and still participating in Politics as he is still a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
