BACKGROUND REPORT: There were news making the rounds yesterday, as regard the Goat that took the centre stage during the regimental proceedings for King Edward.
The news was coming particularly from the African Countries; with some quoting the Goat as an item for atonement or sacrifice.
Some were even quick to say that the British also performed some Sacrifices during installation of their Monarch as done by some African Countries. Hence, the goat was tagged as "Sacrifice Goat."
FINDINGS: Daily News Report finds out that the claim is false. While there might be some special sessions the British government takes during installation of a new King/Queen, no record of Sacrifice was found.
From BBC records, the late Monarch- Queen Elizabeth II's coronation was the first one to be televised and nothing of atonement or sacrifice was witnessed.

Mainwhile, in some African Countries, there used to be some special coronation services where numerous sacrifices and atonements are performed during the installation of a new Monarch. Daily News Report gathered that those sacrifices are to strengthen and protect the Monarch on the throne, also to protect and wish Peace in the Community and the people in the environs.
Some of the those popular Titles that attract some form of sacrifices and Prayer sessions include that of Ooni of Ile-Ife- (Osun State), Alake of Egba Land, Alafin of Oyo- (Oyo State), Olubadan of Ibadan- (Oyo State) and some Monarchs in the Eastern part (Igwes, Title holders) and Northern part of Nigeria- (Saltan, Emirs). Gold Coast (Ghana) and Cameroon also have their own, Which come in different methods.
Mascot Goat/Ram
CONFIRMATION: The Goat is the official mascot for the Regimental Mascot of 3rd Battalion, the Royal Welsh and it took part in the historic proceedings on Sunday, September 11, as part of the activities for the Queen Elizabeth II Burial proceedings. His name is "Shenkin".
According to PA News, a Goat is the traditional mascot for the Royal Welsh, with different regiments having different names for their Goat.

Prior to the Proclamation, 26 men from the regiment marched alongside Shenkin from City Hall to the Castle.
MASCOT GOAT BACKGROUND:
The Official mascots have a regimental number and ranks that can be promoted and demoted like human soldiers.
Report from the Regiment showed that the current Shenkin is a lance corporal in rank.
The Mascot can be demoted if he misbehaved during a parade and will be promoted if he performed well at parades. Report has it that a mascot Goat could also outrank a soldier.
According to Royal Welsh Museum. The goat enjoys up to Radio and a Sofa. The Goat also receives salary which goes toward his Food, Medicals, Uniform and Accommodation.
