Vice Chancellors Plead Buhari to takeover Negotiation With ASUU

Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities have urged President Muhammadu Buhari to take action and expedite the process of settling the ongoing trade union conflict between the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other unions in the country's tertiary institutions.

The vice-chancellors made the demand under the auspices of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU), citing the impact of the strike on both students and institutions.

"We demand that severe measures be taken to stop the hemorrhaging that the system is now experiencing." "We need a bold choice for the welfare of our children and society," said Prof. Samuel Edoumiekumo, Chairman of CVCNU.

He made the remarks at the public unveiling of the Model Intellectual Property for Nigerian Universities on Thursday in Abuja.

The paper is the result of a partnership between the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) and the CVCNU, with assistance from the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Office of Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP).

The vice-chancellors stated that the goal of intellectual property for universities was to encourage the generation, long-term use, and better management of intellectual property in Nigerian institutions.
