Just as the election into the Social and Management Sciences Students' Association keeps approaching; most of the key political positions are already occupied by one Aspirant and the other. The positions, numbering one to ten can be contested only by Students who had completed one year academic session, while the post of the Assistant General Secretary is opened to 100 level Students and the position of the President is opened to students who will be in 400/500 level during the tenure- that is according to the Constitution of the Association.

Our correspondent had a chat one of the leading SAMASSA 001 Aspirants- Comrade Adodo-Davies Damilola; whose Political name is "KING DAVIES". A 300 Level student of Sociology in the Faculty of Social Science. A department which is currently having him as 001 and another person as 002.
According to him, he said going for the post of SAMASSA 001 (President) was bourn out of the need to bring about a productive change, which he said " will be of great and long lasting benefits to the association at large."
Amongst his plans if elected, he said "I mean to change our lecture rooms outlook. I intend to do all I can to make it more conducive for learning. I intend to run a people-oriented administration. Welfare of the students will be my uttermost priority. Competitions will be organized for students within the faculty. Empowered programmes where students will learn different things that will be of immense benefits to them financially and otherwise will" Comr. King Davies said he believed aside earning certificate, students should also be equipped to thrive even without using their certificates after school.
He however gave kudos to the incumbent Administration led by Hon.Comr. Salam Gbolahan for pulling the association together. According to him "I think he is trying his best, despite the global pandemic situation (Covid-19), he is pulling the association together."
As regard his department having him as 001, and another person as 002 Aspirant, he said he isn't worried about that, because his department has given him its full backing. He emphasised that "..nothing is impossible and having an 002 from my prestigious department will make the job easier when I emerge by God's grace, because as societal managers, we would tackle issues concerning the association objectively plus the faculty would be lucky to have us. I am glad... Infact, it pleases my soul"
He however urged all SOMASSAITES to do the right thing, putting aside all forms of familiarity on election day for the sake of effectiveness and good representation, so that the association can progress furthermore.
King Davies said that if elected, the welfarism of the members of the association will be prioritized.
