As the Adekunle Ajasin University Students' Union Election keeps approaching, Students across departments have been showing their interest in one Political Position and the other.
The position of the Public Relation Officer is a key position as such position demands vibrant person to handle; being the image maker and life wire of any organization. Hence, our correspondent had an interactive session with one of the SUG 004 Aspirants - Comrade Akinsulure Simbo Timilehin (ASIMBI).
Comr. ASIMBI said he has been a Public Relation Office for a very long time. According to him, he said "I have served in various offices as a public relation officer, I believe if there is any sector am best fit to deliver diligently, it’s public relation"
He said he believed he has acquired more than enough knowledge and understanding about been a PRO in so many levels. Comrade ASIMBI said he started as an official PRO in his 1st year; been the PRO for his level, before he proceeded to become the PRO for the faculty of Science Students Association, otherwise known as NASS. He also said he has a cordial relationship with the incumbent AAUASU PRO, which according to him, gave him more insight to all hurdles and how to cross each.
Reacting to having the support of the incumbent PRO, he said "I do not believe in Godfatherism at all, Comr. Barryfem only has a vote!. I and the incumbent PRO have a cordial relationship even before he assumed office. He is a man of integrity and doggedness, I love his spirit. I like to walk closely with people who I can gain one or two things from, it’s not about Godfatherism"
He however gave kudos to the incumbent PRO, which, according to Comr ASIMBI said "..the AAUASU PRO is really delivering at his peak. He also disagreed with the conception that the PRO is commercializing information. According to him "I only see some set of misconceptions and misunderstandings"
Comrade ASIMBI emphasised that all Students; Class Representatives and PROs across the Faculties and Departments in AAUA will be carried along in his information lane if elected.
According to him, he said he believed in the power of information. "I believe in the power of information! I tagged my campaign 'Be-Informed'. I want every student of AAUA to be informed."
Comrade ASIMBI, who is one of the leading contenders for SUG 004 hails from the department of Biochemistry, in the Faculty of Science. He is also the Public Relation officer of his Faculty and the Secretary in the AAUA board of Public Relation Officers.
